ACEO Mermaid and Baby Turtles by JoannaBromley ACEO Mermaid and Baby Turtles by JoannaBromley
An ACEO illustration of a mermaid relaxing at the bottom of the sea and enjoying the company of little baby turtles, who are showing off their newly found swimming skills! :-)

watercolors, colored pencils, gel pen on 140lbs hot press Arches paper and some subtle iridescent medium on her fishtail for added magic!

Original to buy at my :My Etsy Shop

She doesn't look very relaxed to me! lol In fact she looks positively worried and sad! Beautiful illustration though, I love the baby turtles and how you've done the ones in the background ^_^

Thanks! And yes, thinking about it, she seems exhausted after looking out for little ones...and grabbing some well deserved rest! :giggle:

The mermaid appears a bit like a tired babysitter to me ( and reminds me of myself):giggle:
Love how you did the scales of her tail  lovely illustration!

Thanks Janna!:cuddle: Whenever I babysat for friends or family, I can only remember being tired...I tried to tire them out to have my piece and I would be the one to fall asleep first!! :giggle:

I am waiting for the arrival of some ordered Limited ACEO cards from ArtCards Wanted to see what they look like and then i will order some more, especially of the mermaid and the twilight fae ACEO'S! Thanks so much Kat!
DO print your own stuff at home? If so, what for a printer do you use? I was thinking of making my own fine art prints, but don't know if that would be cost effective and whether I should bulk buy from a Fine art printing company...
I enquired for quotes at two english firms and still have not received an answer! Germany's Fine ARt printing services ar too expensive.:frustrated:

joanna i highly recommend if you can
to get your own printer there are nice
professional and affordable ones
I use Epson r380 fantastic printer, the ink
is a bit pricey but it's worth it in the end
you will love doing your own prints and aceo prints,
epson glossy ultra premium photo paper is one of the best
i received many compliments on the quality,
for cheaper prints( on ebay) i use their matte paper
which is equally nice and affordable,
i do know what you mean art services can be pretty pricey, i once made prints in a local
print store and i wasnt happy with the results at all, a lot of the people working in these stores dont know how to print correctly when you do it on your own you will be in charge and if you dont like how something looks you can print it over, i highly recommend getting one :)

I seached for your printer, but it seems to have gone out of production...I had a look at other Epson printers and am 'thinking' of getting this one: Epson Stylus Photo R800. maybe you could tell me what you think, if it would be a good investment? It is basicall teh ink cartridge use and future costs that worry me, but if I can sell prints on Etsy, that would cover it right...I WORRY about EVERYTHING!:giggle:

:giggle: dont worry i know how that can be,
i'm the same way, so sorry to find out my printer is out of
production i'm very happy with it but when time comes to
get a new one i will still pick epson,
i heard a lot of artists use the r800 it's a very good printer,
good investment i know the ink is costly
but if you make big prints you can cover the ink cost by
pricing your print as much as one ink catridge costs thats what i do, aceos tend to go
for less but you will be able to print so many of them ink doesn't run out that fast with smaller
prints , you will be able to do more stuff with printer, you can print business cards, brochures, make bookmarks print small prints you can turn into magnets you can also do embellished prints, and other products, the options are endless :)
